Installing VS.Net 2003 and VS.Net 2005 side by side

We all know that the above frameworks can co-exist quite seamlessly, but wait, there are caveats...

If you have a new machine or a re-imaged hard drive and want to install VS.Net frameworks 1.1 and 2.0 respectively, here's what you might want to to consider before you start pulling your hair out in sheer frustration.,guid,2b5e7146-48a9-4cbe-8000-e1a46b38ccb4.aspx

Happy installation!!!

DNR in Toronto

Today I witnessed the launch of Windows Vista™, the 2007 Microsoft Office system and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.

There were half a dozen sessions divided into three categories which included the following:

  • Business and government sessions
  • IT professional sessions
  • Developer sessions

I mainly attended the Developer sessions and one IT professional session.  The session that I was awed by was the Windows Workflow and its family of classes such as the Presentation Foundation, Communication Foundation and such.  These API's are now a part of the .Net 3.0 Stack in Vista and Windows Server.  Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 support them as well.

There were quite a few swags to be won.  The highlight of the show was the DNR team. Carl Franklin and Richard Campbell flew in to be amongst us.  In fact, I met them last night at the Beer Market at the Esplanade and then again today.

Below, is a link to the picture, that I had with them along with John Bristowe.  Carl is holding a placard titled "Obi Rocks".  Man, was it fun or what!!!
